Automotive Tire Mold Machining Process
1: Cast or forge blanks according to the tire mold drawing, then rough machine the blanks and perform heat treatment. The tire mold blanks undergo a full annealing treatment to eliminate internal stress. During annealing, they should be placed flat to avoid excessive deformation.
2: Drill lifting holes according to the drawings, then machine the outer diameter and height of the tread ring to the specifications of the semi-finishing drawings. Machine the inner cavity of the tread ring using the semi-finishing program, and inspect it with a semi-finishing template after machining.
3: Use the finished tire mold tread electrode to EDM the tread pattern on the inner surface of the tread ring and inspect it with a template.
4: Divide the tread ring into several equal parts according to the manufacturer's requirements, draw marking lines, place it in the jig, and drill and tap the back waist holes.
5: Cut according to the equal parts divided in step 8, aligning with the marking lines.
6: Polish, chamfer, root clean, and drill vent holes on the tread blocks according to the drawing requirements.
7: Evenly sandblast the inside of the tread block cavity, requiring uniform color.
8: Combine and assemble the tread ring, mold sleeve, and upper and lower side plates to complete the tire mold.
